Bally Sagoo is back, this time with 'Anything But Silent' Firstly, let me comment on the CD cover. Well, theirs a picture of yours truly. Mr Sagoo, if you had not realized you are famous already, I could understand an upcoming artist putting themself on the CD cover to promote themselves but... oh well it's up to you, in it. I like the shades but i think he's gone a bit over the top with the make up...i mean sadhi apni asian kudi don't wear this much make up at weddings! When you look at the back of cd cover you will see six tracks but when you look more carefully you will be shocked to realize that their are a total of 2 differant tracks on the cd, yes 2! The two are 'Naiyon Dil Ladga' & 'Deewane Nachde.' Therefore this is an E.P. or single, woteva you wanna call it.
It starts of with 'Naiyon Dil Lagda' with Gunjan with the vocals. Bally Sagoo, the master of bringing back old songs to life, does it again as this song is up to the high standards he has set himself over the years. Her voice is just perfect for the song.
This is followed by 'Deewane Nachde' with Javeed Bashir at the mic. This song is a qawali type song with top lyrics. The song has been well put together as you would expect with Bally Sagoo. Javeed's singing is very good and his voice suite's the song just fine.
Onto track three 'Naiyon Dil Lagda' again, this time sung by Javeed Bashir. No offence Javeed but your voice is not suited to the tempo of the song and this is without a doubt the weakest song on the CD. Quick, change the song!
Next, you guessed it 'Naiyon Dil Lagda' again! The Double Remix this time. This song is remixed by Ishq Record's latest recruit Rishi Rich who is a talended producer from London who you may remember for his contribution to the 'Love 2 Love' & 'Pure Garage' series. Gotta hand it to him for this funky tune, he has added alot of life to a slow song which is not an easy thing to do. I like the start where the man himself says 'another rishi rich remix,' and i'm sure that ain't the last time we hear that.
Then we got tracks 5 & 6 which are instrumentals of the 2 songs. Personally, I have never seen the point in adding instrumentals and see the addition of them as a ploy to show you that their is more on the CD than their actually is, I mean do you listen to the instrumentals?
Overall, the quality of this album is of a high standard. However a big put-off for purchasing this E.P. is the price which is as high as £10 for the CD in many Asian music stores. I mean £10 for 2 songs, get real! I contacted Ishq Records regarding the pricing of the so called E.P. and I was told it was the shops that are ripping us off, we should not be stupid enough to pay album prices for a single just because that is what the shop is charging. Well we want the CD, where do we get it from? All I can say to this, is why does the CD cost £8 plus delivery on Ishqrecords own website? Thats the alternative we got to the £10 we would pay in the shops. When you compare this with the £3/4 you would expect to pay for an english single on CD you have every right to feel short changed, it's only twice the price! My recomendation is to wait for the album to come out as that will be approximately the same price and you will get some more songs. I can't see any logic in the pricing, but hey... who said everything in this world is fair? |
