Blitzkreig's
Summer Mixtape 06

Yo yo whats up peeps! Your boy is back revewing the latest release from Canada's number one Indian rapper Blitzkrieg! Just to fill y'all in, 22k has now signed with Tigerstyle and VIP Records we should be expecting a debut solo album from Mr Tony Sidhu aka Blitz pretty soon.

In the meantime he has dropped a 22 track summer mix tape mixed by Bikram Keith. Usual mix tape rules apply! So sit back, relax and let's listen to the best Asian rapper in the game at the moment!

Standard opening with a punchy intro. Better then the usual crap we are subjected to! Rated for the Russell Peters mention! But again is there really any need!

The next track is taken from Bikram Singh's album and is entitled Chaklo Gandasay (Remix). Bit disappointed to see this track on the album as it is simply recycled! Read the Bikram Singh review if you wanna know what the track is like!

Line of track: I come from the land of warriors, land of 5 rivers, where the alcohol will make your liver quiver.

Seven Seven is the next tune. This tune is regarding the bombings in London on July 7th. Excellent tune. But taken from Mentor Koletiv's "Broke" album. Read the "Broke" review.

Jua Kali is the next tune! Recycled from Mentor Koletiv mixtape! Wicked tune but read the Mentor Koletiv mixtape review for an in depth review! What's the point of me reviewing tunes that already have been reviewed!

At last originality! Documents is the the 5th track and probably the best "un-recycled" tune on the album. This tune is produced by Sunny Singh aka Da Coz and is heavy. The beat is crisp and the lyrics and hard hitting and real. Doesn't have sick one liners rather documents the struggle Blitz faces as Asian rapper. Exellent.

Pyaarae is the next tune on the album. Not a bad a tune overall, a slow, chill out kinda tune. The Punjabi lyrics are solid (Not sure who the vocals are), but the rapping ain't perhaps ain't suited to this kinda tune.

Sharam Ondhi is the next tune and you know it…recycled from Mentor Koletiv's Broke album! I think this CD is just a compilation of all of Blitz's tunes he has featured on!

This next tune is sick, original and just pure grimey! I downloaded it a while ago from 22k's website and have loved it since. Nang beat and an additive hook (even if it has been "adapted" from Lil Kim's "put your lighters up")! Roach Killer is also featured and complements Blitz very well with his dancehall style! I hope we hear more of this type of tune on the rest of the album!

Line of the Track: "I got a big fat dick that make Vagina's bust"

Deewana is the next tune. 13th track on "Broke." Enough said!
Angel Eyes (remix) is the 10th June. Again this has done the rounds on the 22k website and is a good tune. Taken Raghav's "Angel Eyes" as a sample it provides the kinda atmosphere you need when you need to get ya freak on in a club, ya get me! Blitz takes a calmer, more subtle approach to his rapping style on this track but he still sounds sick.

This next tune sees Sona Family and 22k hook up. The tune is entitled "Fast N Furious." As you guess its all about the cars! It features Usman from Sona Family and Basixx from 22k. This tune is quite "chilled out" considering the title! The chorus is a bit whack though!

Yes yes this is a sick tune! Thang Thang is the next tune. It has been around in download world for a while, not sure if it has been released officially. Produced by the ever present Tigerstyle, it features Blitz, Bikram Singh and Shakti. I love this tune! Wicked beat, Bikram smashes it and Blitz provides his usual crème de la crème to complete the tune. Shakti is alright on the tune but the track wouldn't miss her if she wasn't there.

Line of the track: "When it comes to sex, I wrote the book Mr Karma Sutra…"

Kuriya is the next tune and is taken from "Indians Strike Back Vol 2" which guess what…..I reviewed! I hope they don't rape this album like they have "Broke"

Put Ya Hands up….Track 2 from Mentor Koletiv's Mixtape. I try to be environmentally friendly but this amount of recycling takes the piss!

Line of the track: "Punjabi Sikh militants we all born warriors"

Track 15 is entitled "Twizzle"…. but it's original! Well kinda, for all you hardcore 22k fans you will notice that Blitz's first verse is actually taken from another song called "22k" which sampled a Timbaland beat from Justin Timberlake's album. But I suppose we can allow that on a mixtape…! Not a bad tune, not really sure about the Hindi lyics added from time to time, bit other then that the beat is quite tight. Blitz aint bad on this tune but not below par if you ask me.

"22's" is the next track. I love this beat! It sounds like something outta a cartoon! Very original and unique! The track is a bit short, but some nice one liners from Blitz kills this track!

"In The Building" was one of the best tracks from "Indians Strike Back Vol 2," a pity they couldn't think of something as good to put on this album…instead they decided to put the same song again on this album!

This next track again has been available to download from 22k's website and is called "Ishq." This is a heavy tune it has a kinda dark, erry quality about it. The hook is sick, and the subject is very real. It's talking about have love for the music industry etc. Yeah, good tune.

Line of the track: "My attitude is fu** it if I can't benefit"

Happy Hour Remix is the next tune and it is jokes! A bit more explicit then the rest of the tunes of the album! It's all about the ladies! Love the soft beat on this tune, very relaxing! Reminds you of being on holiday! Blitz is his usual grimey self! (in all meanings of the word!)

Line of the tune: "I treat girls like a bus player, if I miss one ill catch another one ten minutes later"

Track 20 is called "We Back Remix" is a blatant album filler….no real structure of anything! Waste of time.

Track 21, R.I.P Robby G is taken from "Indians Strike Back Vol 2."

And we come to the last track Dhooma Dhaka, this tune is quite grimey. You start off with this guy saying "Dhooma Dhaka" and gradually the tune is built up with different instruments. Very desi musical instruments at that! But it sounds sick, especially when Roach Killa comes on the track. This is what people should aim for, keep things real by using traditional instruments but add rap lyrics on top! Perfect Combo!

Out of these 21 tracks (excluding the intro) you got 9 tracks which have been released on different artist albums. That leaves us with 12 tracks, of which some have already been released on the website.

The tracks which were "new" were good and I liked them! One of the reasons I liked Indians Strike Back Vol 2 so much was because it was fresh, unique and they just didn't give a fuck and that filters through into a few tunes on this album especially "Documents" and "Conceited Remix."

People may say that they have a lack of ideas etc etc but I personally don't see that as the case, I think we have to wait and see what Blitz's solo album is saying before we can make any judgment!

Overall, yeah I'm disappointed because of the high standard of "Indians Strikes Back Vol 2" some good tunes but you will have already heard 50% of them.
