This album follows in the footsteps of the great 'Slayers' and recently 'Death Jamm 5' which were good, but 'Escape' is not good, it is excellent with 8 top quality tracks, shame the CD front cover is a let down with no real effort, to put it bluntly it's black with Escape written on it sideways, now who's idea was that? Well, I just gotta say this, it's a bit crap really innit!
The album starts with 'Hai Rabba' which is another phat Zeus mix with the vocals of Balwinder Safri and arguably Zeus' best track eva! His mixes continue to get better and better and this track is a sign of things to come in the rest of the album. The only complaint I have about it is that it sounds very similar to the usual Dr Zeus song for example 'Gwandian Da Dhol' from High Life & 'Charka Chanen Da' from The Slayers. I mean the guy is a top producer and that but he needs to start coming out with new stuff, you know what I mean?
'Nach Ke' is the next track and the vocals of Binder Bajwa are average but the r 'n' b tune added by Subbs is great and really brings the track to life! He seems to be a great addition to the envy music label.
Lil' Sach's first effort on the album is his worst, dont get me wrong the music is not bad but the 'Jatt Anthem' vocals are pathetic and the english added in the track ruins the tune.
Next Subbs joins forces with the legend Kuldip Manak in 'Kantey Wali' and this track is similar to 'Nach Ke' but we hear less of the tune on its own , the vocals are much better and drums are introduced into the music, a quality track and another fine effort by Subbs.
Dr. Zeus returns with 'Balle Balle' and this track is not as lively as 'Hai Rabba' but still impresses mixing the garage tunes perfect with the vocals of one of the best eva, Labh Janjua. Not as good as 'Hai Rabba' but still worth listening to.
Track 6 switches the whole mood of the album and sometimes that can be a bad thing but this time it makes 'Nachdi Da' one of the best songs on the album if not the best, there is no garage tune in it, pure desi mix by Lil'Sach with the vocals of legend Boota Pardesi, the rest of the album might not get you up dancing but this will everytime!
Sound Ministry's only effort is 'Deor Da Viah' as they have been busy with their own album 'Pure Hip Hop Vol.2' which is out now! Anyways nothing new here, Dippa Dosanjh's track has been mixed many times and this is another average attempt by adding a hip hop tune.
Subbs' last track on the album is 'Dhol Vajda 'and when I saw this on the track listings I expected a desi song but the vocals of Surinder Shinds are very poor again but the garage tune is pretty good if you take out the vocals.
Overall , a great album and for me one of the best eva produces by Envy Roma and I look forward to Vol.2, Dr.Zeus is class act as usual and some solid attempts by Subbs and Lil'Sach give this album a 7/10. Enjoy listening to this over and over again! |
