Jazzy B's
Tera Roop

Jazzy B, the name that has acquired several tags but the most anticipated "The Crown Prince of Bhangra", is back with brand new venture entitled "Tera Roop". The album released on Moviebox (UK) & Tips (India) features nine brand new killer tracks written by very famous writers. Its surprising, we weren't even bored with the previous tracks, as we were still listening to it and Jazzy B comes up with another album. After the release of Oh Kedi, Jazzy B released singles on various albums that have been big hits of course, as Patlo (in M2), Khushiyan (in Ral Khushi Manaiye) and Pawarey Teri Akh De Sohniye (in Hoye Hoye 2). All his fans have eagerly awaited jazzy B's latest release, actually I mean the fans couldn't wait at all, and the wait is over. So did Jazzy B live up to the expectation of the fans? Did the "music maestro" Sukshinder Shinda or the backbone of Jazzy B really smashed it again with the music? Well let's see, because here is it how it goes...

The album opens up with the excellent track Bach Ke, written by Pinda Dhaliwal's pen. The song has a very new touch to it, as the western catchy beats are fused over piano and tumbi flavours. This is a track, which wasn't heard from Jazzy B, and now we have it here. I have a feeling that this song may become the anthem of the album as its getting blasted all over at my hometown NYC. Plus no wonder the song made me crazy too, its really addictive.

Onto track 2, we have a garage flavour, called Yaar Le Marde or Putt Jatta De (on Tips). As with the lyrics the main man Satinder Kala is behind it. And not to forget, we have HMC & MC Lyca featuring on this track, which brought additional satisfaction of a garage tune. However, this tune is mainly aimed at UK Industry, as our desi fellows says "Its Orite," but still that doesn't change my opinion, I think we have another style of Jazzy B, which proves Jazzy B is also suited to garage tunes, as in last album Oh Kedi, the song Ek Gal smashed it, as most likely it was his first garage theme, I guess! Hopefully we will be expecting another blend from Jazzy B and Sukshinder Shinda, so lets keep the fingers crossed.

Now we have the title track "Tera Roop" which is a standard track, written by Satinder Kala again. We also have a very first video launched of this track off the album Tera Roop!! The video is very professional and is shot at South Africa. The video has Jazzy B in his "funky" style, not the desi one (as he was in the videos Naag, Khushiyan etc), and yeah we see him in bandana too in it. Now with the sounds of the track, it is a typical "title track" song, which lies in the middle neither desi way nor much western. This song has its own personality, and it's a hit out there!

All right, now with the trend of anthem of the album Oh Kedi, yeah you know it, the biggest hit of Jazzy B, NAAG. You may recall our fourth track is NAAG II, which is titled Jawani, written by Sukh Thandi. The music is similar to Naag, but the vocals (BOL) are quite different. On the sarangi, its Gurdev Singh Durgapuria, who did a great job!! We got a competition now, which is better? Naag? Or is it Jawani? The answer is yours!! No wonder this is another song, which will storm our radio stations again.

Following that, we got track 5, Sohnieh. The track has a very new sound, as it is fused with the beats of tabla, and unbelievably it gets to its best level as the beats of dhol and tabla are combined somewhere in the middle of the track. This song would be most likely to categorized in the "Pop" list. And dont ask me how is the track, because you know it too, its sweet, melodic, it's just the BOMB!

Onto track 6, Hasna Maar Da as it is called is written once again by Satinder Kala. As it is said there is a video shot to this track too, all I could say is launch it fast! Back to the sounds, the track changes its phase of speed over throughout as it starts out in slow phase and turns to fast one. It's another killer track, which is not to be missed. Jazzy B smashed it here too!

Track 7: Kali, the one and only sad track on the album. Guess who has written the song? Not again, it's Satinder Kala. The lyrics probably falls in sad-romantic category, and the music goes along the lyrics very well, as the sounds of Harmonium (Baja) gives it the outlook of Kali. The song is sang very well as I would say it's another good song.

Next onto track 8, its Holi Holi, a Pop tune, and a slow romantic theme which is lyrically supported by ... ahem, Satinder Kala! This tune, as I would say won't be the outstanding one off the album, but I must this is another top tune, I dont mean this tune isn't good or so, all I am saying is as compared to other ones.

The final track is Sardara and the name says it all, it's a hardcore desi track. Jandu Litrawala has written this one. The song starts off with the introduction, which we may say a "fight", when Yaar-Vaileys get drunk, that's how it goes. This song is really a bit of a surprise, I mean I never expected such complete desi theme out of Jazzy B, and of course he smashed it, another classic tune of the album it is. You never know maybe this one is the anthem of the album, all we have to do is WAIT and lets see what the time announces.

And that was the album, nine brand new dazzling tracks. Jazzy B proved his statement "Expect the unexpected" by the songs such as Sardara and Bach Ke. Jazzy B's backbone Sukshinder Shinda did a great job on the music and day-by-day this guy just get better and better if that's possible. We must keep our eyes on forthcoming A. S. Kang's DIL DE DE, because its said the music is by Sukshinder Shinda, not sure though. With this album Jazzy B did lived out the expectations of the fans and builds upon the success of the previous hit Oh Kedi. No matter what, I must say Jazzy B is the voice of the era, a new image of Kuldip Manak. According to me, this is the best album of the year on my list, and I know it will stay #1, no matter what comes now! I would rate the album at an amazing 8 out of 10!!
