Malkit Singh's
Paaro

The name's Jaskurn Singh and I'm going to review the album 'PAARO' by Malkit Singh
First of all I would like to state that Malkit is truly the bhangra king in the U.K and everything he does he pleases the crowd where ever he goes.
This newest album by him is one that will please some Malkit lovers and disappoint some other hard-core garage fans.

The album (with 9 tracks) starts off with a totally tulli track named 'Daru Peeni' this is one to pump up at the functions. Its got a desi touch to it and boy is it sung well. Its not too slow and has just enough rhythm to get you outta your chair!

Next up is the track 'Yeh Chakkar Kya Hai'. To tell you the truth, I don't really like this song. Being a true bhangra lover I don't go well with hindi stuff. But this track still ain't bad. Fast and pumping this is more for a disco rather then a desi hardcore bhangra function.

'Mar Java Gud Kahke' isn't actually a bad track, it not Garage and it's Bhangra. Which I think is good, seeing that most people today in walati countries are resorting to listen to that brand of music!

Malkit next presents 'Kich Kanda'. This is a good track for weddings and functions and stuff like that. Traditional sounding and is not the fastest song you've heard before and is good for the maniacs that get up before anyone else at a wedding and start dancing.

Title song 'Paaro' follows up Kich Khanda and well, this is an ok track especially seeing that today's generation likes fast upbeat songs to dance to in clubs and pubs. As I said it is fast and the lyrics are OK. Thats all I am going to say, I mean, couldn't he have made the title song a bit better? This song defiantly needed more dhol and tumbi init.

'Sona Mahi' is one of my favourite tracks. Not because I like romantic shit but because its one of the most traditional sounding songs in the album! It has got better lyrics then any other song in the album. I hope a lot of thinking went into this song because it paid off!

'Chitiyan" is a song that is nice and mellow. Its a good listening song and has good strong lyrics. Music is also done well to this track. Its about the many struggles lovers go through in order to express their feelings.

'Baba Dang Wala' BRUUAH!!! Does this song rock or what. As you have probably already guessed this is my fav track from the album. Its so, original and got a good tune to it. He uses his voice really well in this song. Music is excellent and backup vocalists are mad! This Song should be popular at parties. Tell your DJ to put it on and pump up the volume!

WARNING: FIRST TIME YOU LISTEN TO THIS SONG, YOU MIGHT NOT LIKE IT. YOU JUST GOTTA LISTEN TO IT A COUPLE OF TIMES. The album is definatly worth buying because of this track!

Finally bring up the rear is 'Cheecho Cheech Ganeria' which is also a nice dance-to song. Definatly Traditional which might please desi people who like Malkit. Excellent song but, 2nd best in album!

Overall this album is a good buy because well its sung by the 'UK BHANGRA KING' - Malkit. Music is ok, not a lot of use for traditional instrumental but pher bhi, theek thak hai. Finally what would I give it outta Ten? I'd say 7.5 out of 10. Would have been 8 but because I hate hindi tunes in bhangra albums it reduced the rating. Anyway, that was my first review. And I hope you enjoyed it. For now, Take Care & Peace!
