Ne Baliyeh

Yo! This is Rocky droppin a review for the latest offering from Serious Records…Ne Baliyeh! This album is the follow up album to "Gettin' Serious" which was mainly produced by Aman Hayer. Ne Baliyeh pays more attention to the production talents of Jeeti and Kam Frantic and of course an offering by Mr. Dipps Bhamra. Some of the vocalists that appear on this album include: Lehmber Hussainpuri, Kam Bhamra, Sabar Koti, and Daljit Mattu. You can see that these guys have some serious talent on board, so let's take a look at this album and see if it meets the expectations of a good bhangra album.

Album cover - Hot girl on the cover… works for me!

Track one is Time Das Ja the vocals are by Kam Bhamra with production provided by none other than Jeeti. Song kicks off with a sarangi buzzing around, and then you're led in by a dhol which introduces the main beat. This is definitely a heavy track. The lyrics are impressive and original. Kam's voice sounds amazing and the production is very high quality.

The second offering is Surma with vocals by the 'golden voice' himself, Lehmber Hussainpuri. The production is the works of Kam Frantic, and I must say this is a different track. The music sounds great, a nice blend of an acoustic guitar fused with traditional Indian beats, and a head boppin' bass line. A nice track to sing along to, I can't really see this track as a dance floor thrasher, but it's a song that will definitely bump in your car.

Daljit Mattu returns with a massive production by Jeeti! Patola is the third track and my god, what a track! The track kicks off right away with an impressive desi beat. Daljit Mattu sounds incredible! You can tell his voice has improved since he shattered dance floors with Captain Bhangre Da. Jeeti has really shown his production talents with this one. This track will definitely be heard across dance floors all around the world! Massive!

Kam Frantic slows you down to a halt with the fourth offering of Pyaar, where we see the return of Dev Dhillon. This is a real nice slow track that deals with heart break, and realization of how much 'he' loved 'her'. The beat is very nice; Kam Frantic really shows his skill with the blending of eastern/western beats. Great song to have over a peg or two…

The tempo of the track is lifted back up with the fifth track Akh Ne which features vocals by Jeevan Maan, and production by Kam Frantic. Another nice offering by Mr. Frantic, the beat isn't too fast paced, it's just perfect enough to get you going on the dance floor. This Jeevan Maan has a great voice, works really well with the tune of this track. Another excellent track! Terey naal largi akh ne, sohney nachan valiyeh…hai…

Track six is Sona which has Jeeti at the controls, and Dev Dhillon firing away at the mic. The beat is intense, the bass line is pagal!!! Oh, and an impressive set of lyrics really make this track.

Mul - brings the legendary Sabar Koti up to bat with music by, yep, you guessed it… Jeeti! This is more of an indo-pop song. This song should definitely appeal more to the masses in India. Really fast paced beat has a nice blend of tabla, bass, and a two step beat… its one of the better pop songs I've heard in a long while.

Larey, is track 8, which has vocal offerings from Javi Singh, and production by Jeeti. This track has its garage aspects to it. It's nice; it hasn't been over done, and has a nice composition of the sarangi and harmonium. I like the lyrics, and the simplicity in the beat. Javi Singh, now I haven't heard of this guy before, but he sounds impressive, and hopefully this isn't the last we've seen of him.

Now, before I begin, the last time my ears faced music by Dipps Bhamra, they weren't too impressed, lol, actually they were covered, and the music was turned off right away. This time; however, it's a different story! Track nine has the return of Dipps Bhamra - Nachna - which has vocals laid down by Balbir Sufi…. MASSIVE!!!! Now this track should have been the title track of the album. The track has everything you desi heads want. It transitions back and forth, Sufi sounds incredible! And for a track entitled 'Nachna' you don't get those typical shitty lyrics you always hear. Much love to Dipps on this one! This song should be a dance floor anthem! Track has been on repeat ever since I bought this album!duniyah tey soney pavey soneyah tho luk ni, sarey yah tho sohniye tuu sareya tho vakh nii! WICKED VERSE!!!!!

The final track is the title track Ne Baliyeh which is a duet that has Lehmber, and Kam Bhamra droppin' the vocals. Jeeti has done a wonderful job on this one, and Kam goes to extra lengths to sound very impressive on this on. The collaboration of the two artists on the same track was genius! Their voices go together so well. The music is awesome; Jeeti has really proven himself with this track! A definite dance floor rocker!

Ne Baliyeh is the second offering from Serious Records. This is a very special album because it has something for EVERYONE. It would sound absurd to call any track on here a "filler track". Every track has quality. It's nice to hear an album from the UK without any of those MC's (ina-mina-gina-bina blah blah blah, such a waste). It's hard to find an album that gives you everything you want and expect from a bhangra album. (They come rare and this is the rarest) I'm not going to rate this album because the review speaks for itself! The 'Serious' crew did an amazing job on the making of this album. I can't wait to hear the next offering from these guys. Ne Baliyeh gets a well deserved 8 out of 10; well done.
