Irfan: For those of us not in the know; who is Blitzkrieg?
Blitzkrieg: I'm a rapper from Toronto Canada working with tigerstyle and I have just released my album: The Rhyme Book…in all stores now, buy it hahahaha.
Irfan: Your solo debut album is a long time in the making; why has it taken so long?
Blitzkrieg: It's all about timing. Before I was establishing myself in the undergounrd market through mixtapes and various appearances on the Mentor Kolektiv, Sona family, Tigerstyle, & Bikram Singh projects. I feel I have all the elements and support I need now to release. It's been effective, so far all 3 of my singles have reached the top 10 on BBC Asian Network charts, the video has attained high rotation, and I just completed a 14 date UK promo tour in Oct.

Irfan: You have managed to get some top producers on board for this project. I'll give you the pleasure of naming your production team!
Blitzkrieg: I'm really happy with the talented people which I surround myself with. Tigerstyle has executive produced my album, and it also features production from mentor, as well as hip-hop producers such as Dacoz & Saq. I was recently also able to spend a lot of time with Surinder Rattan.
Irfan: The album is entitled ‘The Rhyme Book' which to me shows an emphasis on lyrics. How important are lyrics to you?
Blitzkrieg: Lyrics mean everything to me. Don't let the singles about partying and girls fool you, I'm an mc with a message and something to say. My album features
many tracks with deep meanings such as: Time 2 Educate, My Life, Don't Get on the Train, & Prime Time. I named it The Rhyme Book because I'm metaphorically opening the pages of my life, and allowing fans to read between the lines.
Irfan: The medley video is currently being aired on TV. Tell us more about the concept behind it.
Blitzkrieg: It was directed by Jazz Virk, he also directed Jazzy B's “Romeo” video. We wanted the video to have 3 distinct looks for each song in the medley. Each setting represents the artist involved. Gunjan is just a great and sweet person so we emphasized that with the bright colours. Me and Roach are represented in an urban setting, while Bikram is the future of bhangra music. 50 cent recently introduced my video on youtube…check it out:
Irfan: In today's day and age marketing a product effectively is extremely important. Would you agree? What have you done to make sure you get this right?
Blitzkrieg: I totally agree, I think the problem with the Asian music industry is that not enough time and money is invested in artist development. The mainstream spends millions of dollars marketing artist, which is why they go platinum. I've always been a hustler / hard worker. I have consistently flown to UK selling mix CD's in the streets and performing at various venues for over 3 yrs now. I took the initiative to stay in the UK for the entire month of Oct releasing and promoting my album this yr. I did 14 shows, radio interviews, TV interviews, magazine and website interviews also had an album release party in Soho London, with Tigerstyle, Mentor, Amit Chana & Surinder Rattan.
Irfan: Many albums by MC's / Rappers are released these days in an increasingly urban desi market. What is so special about your album in comparison to others?
Blitzkrieg: Look at the charts and video rotation, the music speaks for itself. It's a good mix / blend of all genres. It's got good desi tracks as well as meaningful urban tracks. I got some of the best producers and vocalist in the desi scene working with me. Tigerstyle, Mentor , Gunjan, Bikram Singh, Des-c, Roach Killa, Gurbax Shonki, etc….
Irfan: You have released a few mixtapes as a stepping-stone to the debut album. Now the album is OUT; do you feel at all nervous about how well it will be received?
Blitzkrieg: No I'm never nervous. Music is something personal I love and will always do regardless of what anyone else thinks. I'm trying to achieve my lifes goals and releasing albums is one of them. There's always gonna be haters but success is the best revenge. All my singles have reached top 10 Asian charts, video has good rotation.
Irfan: What else does Mr Blitzkrieg have lined up in the near future that we should know about?
The Rhyme Book
Blitzkrieg: Right now its all about the Rhyme Book album….more videos planned for my singles, hopefully India in the near future. Also I will be on Tigerstyle's upcoming album.
