Happy new year all, am back with some more news for you all, giving you the latest on the Urban Asian scene.
The Metz and Trix interview (click here to view) we brought you exclusively to this site has had the world of bhangra buzzing. It is reported that the RDB boys have seen the interview and started work on a "diss" track to counter the views put out by Metz and Trix. We would just like to point out that it has nothing to do with GI Jatt as he has nothing to do with other people's problems and frictions as that is not what he's all about. RDB gave Metz and Trix their big break back in 2000 when MC Metz burst onto the scene with the track Tappe that was co-produced by Surinder Ratten and RDB then later Trix MC on RDB's debut album.
| Rishi Rich has signed with Kiss 100 FM to present a world mix and Asian show on the station on Friday nights. Juggy D and Jay Sean join him along with other members of the 'doh point noh' crew every Friday, mixing up bhangra, RnB and Asian fusion. Rishi said, "This show is another leap forward for the growing British 'Urban-Desi' street music scene. Well be bringing in live instruments and drum machines, producer battles and live guests as we continue to experiment and break new talent. Kiss is now where East meets West". A new group of music producers known as 'The late night project' is set to hit the industry hard in early February. Their production is described as "a cross between Bally Sagoo, RDB and Boota Jagpal". They are set to release a taster of their work as a EP with the producer being 'Jeeti' who has worked with some of the industries biggest names and will be called Jeeti v's The late night, so keep your ears open for them, they are set to blow up.
The Sona family have just released their mixtape. The mixtape is a double album with one CD featuring rhymes and verses just from the Sona Family, and the other CD is mainly bhangra, produced by DJ IC4. The album is available from Asian Music stores or directly from the guys themselves at www.sonafamily.com. Ozzy from The Sona Family collaborated with the Trailblazers for their bootleg of Busta's 'Light Your Ass On Fire' , which received a lot of attention. They have also collaborated with North American's finest - Sanj to remix an Adnan Sami track. This East London crew are looking to do big things in the industry this year, and this looks like another step in the right direction. With 2 CD's, you can't complain about not getting value for money.
| 2Play and Raghav are currently at number 8 in the UK charts, which is excellent but make sure you keep supporting the single. Raghav is also working on a solo mainstream |

Panjabi Hit Squad is becoming regular features on the news. They have a new track doing the rounds at the moment, by the vocalist Zena called Around the World. Remixes featuring bashment boys Beenie Man and Vybez Cartel have also been produced. The PHS boys have also provided a remix for Beenie Man's forthcoming hit "Dude".
That's all for now, there's not any news next month so sorry about that, but watch out for the march article, keep it locked to desitunes4u.com for the biggest exclusives, Rakesh. |
